Lieutenant Colonel Coe H. Jr.
Lieutenant Colonel Coe H. Dickey Jr., 84, passed away Saturday, January 11,
2013, at his residence in Oak Leaf Manor. Coe was born March 29, 1929, and
was the son of Coe H. Sr. and Margaret (Beehler) Dickey.
Coe graduated from Howe Military Academy and then went on to graduate from
Wittenberg College. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Coe faithfully
served his country in the United States Air Force for 26 years attaining the
rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He married Jean Ann Miller whom he met at Wittenberg
College. Jean preceded him in death in 2002. From the marriage, they had 3
daughters. Left to cherish his memories are Anne (James) Caldwell, Barbara
Dickey-Claus, Carol Dickey-Mohrman; 8 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Coe, for many years, owned and operated Toledo Tent Company. He was a member
of Olivet Lutheran Church, charter member of North Cape Yacht Club, member
of Toledo Ice Boat Yacht Club, Sylvania Pyramid Lodge #287 Free and Accepted
Masons, and International Brotherhood of Magicians.
For many years, Coe was well known for spreading joy to children by playing
Santa Claus. He was also a known as, "I just saw the guy who was driving
a red moped with a big furry "Russian" hat on his head!"
Visitation will be at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 Main St., Sylvania, Ohio,
Tuesday, January 14, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. Services will also be held at Reeb
on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Procession will travel to Ottawa Hills Memorial Park
for burial. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made
